New Secretary General of the Order

 
Br. Raúl Gómez Sánchez, OP, succeeds Br. Jean-Ariel Bauzá Salinas, OP.

The Master of the Order, Br. Gerard Francisco Timoner III, OP, appointed Br. Raúl Gómez Sánchez, OP as the new Secretary General of the Order on November 8, 2023. Br. Raúl is a son of the Province of San Luis Beltrán of Colombia and succeeds Br. Jean-Ariel Bauzá Salinas, OP.
Br. Raúl was born in the city of Cali, Colombia, in 1992. After his secondary school studies, he entered the Order of Preachers. He made his first religious profession in 2011 in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Chiquinquirá and his solemn profession in 2016 in the Convent of Santo Domingo in Bogotá. He studied philosophy and theology at the University of St. Thomas Aquinas in the same city. He was ordained to the diaconate on 2 December 2017 and to the priesthood on 6 April 2019.

Raúl holds a Masters and Canonical Licentiate in Theology from the Pontifical Javeriana University of Bogotá. Prior to his appointment as Secretary General, he served his Province as Parochial Vicar, Provincial Promoter of the Dominican Family, and Socius of the Master of Students.

We entrust his service in the General Curia to the intercession of Mary, Protector of our Order, and our holy father St. Dominic.
